This is another privileged observation point on the mountains that surround us, giving information on the geological phenomena that involved them. The first feature that strikes us going up the path and arriving here is the sharp peak of Mount Pizzuto (or Pozzoni), which, with its 1903 m a.s.l. is the highest peak in this area of Umbria bordering with Lazio.
If you have time, it is certainly worth the climb. Looking towards south-east, where the source of the River Velino is located, a rocky amphitheater has a remarkable scenic effect, with a sequence of crags and rocky pinnacles. Looking NorthWest, that is, towards the descent, Mount Alvagnano can be observed in the distance and on its south-western flank the plane of the segment of the Pleistocene fault of Mount Alvagnano, which cuts this mountain. This fault segment and the Costa delle Cavalle fault segment have caused some historical earthquakes, in particular in 1599 and 1703. The latter was particularly destructive throughout Central Italy.
